In addition to his legal background, Joel brings a wide range of business and negotiating skills to the mediation process. With over 25 years experience as a business consultant and corporate executive, Joel has been involved in the startup of three corporations, has served on the Board of Directors of public and private corporations, and has participated in the development of private and public stock offerings. Having negotiated scores of commercial contracts, he has proven expertise in negotiating, creative problem solving, business planning and finance.

Since 1994 Joel has dedicated his career to dispute resolution through mediation. As a mediator Joel gets high ratings from both plaintiff counsel and defense counsel as demonstrated by letters describing Joel’s services. Plaintiffs have written “extremely tenacious and dedicated to his work”, “above and beyond the call of duty ” , “a complex matter which you handled with your usual skill.”. And Defense counsel have written, ”I found your low key approach to this process to be refreshing and, quite frankly, critical in the effectuation of a resolution of the case.” and “very impressed ... sent your name to the other fifty attorneys in my firm.”, “requested [insurance representative] recommend your services to her supervisor.”.

Joel’s experience includes serving on mediation panels for Judicate West, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the United States Postal Service (employment disputes program), the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) (employment), the California Department of Insurance, the Los Angeles Superior Court Civil Litigation and Probate programs, the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, and the National Association of Securities Dealers arbitration and mediation panels.
